Bangalow Palm - Archontophoenix cunninghamiana

For height in in any landscaping projest the Bangalow Palm is worth consideration. Suited to outdoor landscaping applications the Bangalow Palm will reach around 25m in height with a single stem.

It is a fast growing upright palm with a canopy sp read of 3-4m, foliage without spines or spikes which makes it suited to confined spaces. The growth rate makes it a popular choice for commercial developments. Grows well in cool to tropical climates.

With a fairly shallow root system the Bangalow Palm presents few problems to drains, and buildings, it is also a little more 'cold tolerant' than many other palm trees and can be grown in the warmer parts of mid to southern New South Wales.

Wholesale prices will vary from under $15 for a small plant in a 250mm pot to $65 for a 3m specimen and $100 plus for taller specimens with more developed trunks.

Care

The Bangalow Palm does require a moisture retentive soil, in dry periods water will be required. Provide protection from strong winds and remember that this is a 'self cleaning' palm tree so it will drop its old fronds naturally.
